Just heard then saw my first slurry bomber of the summer...a converted Lockheed PV-2 Neptune. Looked like the same plane as the photo above. When I was a kid in the 70's the bombers were badass WWII vintage B-17 bombers complete with the radial piston engines. They didn't have the horsepower of these modern turbo prop engines and therefore never got a lot of altitude by the time they'd fly over town.
